A Cypherpunk’s Blog

Just a simple minimalist blog of a cypherpunk wannabe.

  • Quote of the Day - 2025.09.23

Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say

  • Are blogs still relevant?

Are blogs still relevant today? I’m not sure if people still read online, or if they just prefer to scroll and watch short videos. One thing is certain: people’s attention spans have shrunk in recent years.

Normally, I would encourage people to comment on that, but I have not activated comments (nor do I intend to).

  • When you don’t need to respect

In my life, I came to realize that you can - and should - be disrespectful for a lot of entities (people, institutions, etc). But you need to learn to be respectful to all at first, before you selectively become disrespectful. This needs to be a conscious choice.

  • One small step for a blog, one giant leap for self-sovereignty...

Self-sovereignty happens one step at a time! For me, it starts with hosting my own blog on my own home server. This setup is uncensorable, uncontrolled, and independent of platforms and 3rd party software, free & open source.

  • We are now live...

Now the blog is publicly accessible over the internet. This is the first post in this “new era” (previous posts were written on a local version of the blog, while I was configuring - and learning - the hugo platform).

    Next step:

    • Use https protocol.

  • Raspberry Pi Migration

I migrated this blog to a raspberry Pi3. It’s a very old device indeed but it’s nice that I can still use it to host a site.

  • MarkDown Language

The more I use MarkDown, the more I fall in love with the simplicity & convenience.

  • Hello World number 2

    I’m starting to learn Hugo…

  • Hello World

Welcome to my first Hugo blog post! 🚀

This is a simple minimalist blog.

    Manifesto

The web is full of bloat and junk. Millions of lines of code, javascript, cookies, tracking services, surveillance, etc… Content is crap. From an open platform for expression, it became an attention marketplace. A simple web 2.0 blog hosted on popular CMS platforms, incorporates thousands of lines of codes just to display a page or two.
